You’re Never Weird on The Internet (Almost) – Felicia Day

by Cath

Today I’m going to talk a little bit about the book “You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost)” written by Felicia Day. I loved the show “The Guild” when I saw it a couple of years ago and I’m a huge fan of her in “Supernatural”.

I’ve been reading all sorts of books, and even though I was never into reading biographies, I already read a couple this year! Perhaps knowing myself and the world that surrounds me has become more important as I’m growing older.

This book is an autobiography of actress and producer Felicia Day. It discusses how her childhood influenced her growing up and how her professional career developed and where the show “The Guild” began. It’s a light and funny read.

I learned a few things about myself that couldn’t quite put my finger on before. As the writer, I have problems expressing myself and chit-chat scenarios. There are so many ideas going on in my head but I never do anything to accomplish them, my job being the only exception (my employers are grateful for that!)

Favorite quotes from the book:

I expected perfection as soon as the pencil hit the paper, and since that’s impossible, I couldn’t get myself to start. Then I felt guilty about not starting, which made me want to start even less.

I’ve always felt like a failure inside if I’m not already a success, if that makes any sense.

There are enough negative forces in this world—don’t let the pessimistic voice that lives inside you get away with that stuff, too. That voice is NOT a good roommate.

I recommend this book, she’s not afraid of showing that her path was easy, that things magically appear. Sometimes people like to sugarcoat it but the truth is, you need to fight for what you want, no one will do it for you.
